【摘要】:Thisguidespecificallyaddressesthedesignandinstallationoffull-encirclement-typebandclampsforrepairofgouges,punctures,orholes,andforreinforcementofpolyethyleneplasticpipe.Guidelinesareprovidedforselectingandusingclampsinpipesizes2in.nominal(60mm)andlarger.Atestmethodisalsoprovidedfortheusertoassesstheapplicabilityoftherepairclamp.Underappropriatecircumstances,thistypeofclampoffersaconvenient,effective,andsafemeansofrestoringtheintegrityofanin-servicepipeline,withoutcuttingoutasectionofpipe(seeNote0).Thepipetoberepairedcannotbebackedbyastiffenerforinternalsupportandcross-sectionaldimensionalcontrol.Satisfactoryuseofthistypeofclampmustrelyonthecrushresistanceofthepipeitselfandafittingdesignconcept,whichretainsthecross-sectionalpipeconfigurationwhileminimizingcompressiveforcesrequiredtoobtainaneffectiveleakageseal.Note0Theappropriatenessforuseofthistypeofclampshouldbedeterminedbyusingtheinformationcontainedinthisguideandfromconsultationwith,andrecommendationsof,boththepipeandclampmanufacturers.Thebasicpremiseforuseofthistypeofclampisthatitisrecommendedbythemanufacturerforthisspecificapplicationandthatstep-by-stepinstallationinstructionsareavailableforthatapplication.Itisimportantinthedevelopmentofthistypeofclampthatprototypetestingbeconductedtoevaluateperformanceexpectationsbecauseofthephysicallimitationsencounteredwhendesigningitforusewithplasticpipe.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
