【摘要】:Thisisaguidetodevelopingfirehazardassessmentsforupholsteredseatingfurniture,withinpatientroomsofhealthcareoccupancies.Assuch,itprovidesmethodsandcontemporaryfiresafetyengineeringtechniquestodevelopafirehazardassessmentforuseinspecificationsforupholsteredseatingfurnitureinsuchoccupancies.Hazardassessmentisanestimationofthepotentialseverityofthefiresthatcandevelopwithcertainproductsindefinedscenarios,oncetheincidentshaveoccurred.Hazardassessmentdoesnotaddressthelikelihoodofafireoccurring,butisbasedonthepremisethatanignitionhasoccurred.Becauseitisaguide,thisdocumentcannotbeusedforregulation,nordoesitgivedefinitiveinstructionsonhowtoconductafirehazardassessment.Thisguideisintendedtoprovideassistancetothoseinterestedinmitigatingthepotentialdamagefromfiresassociatedwithupholsteredfurnitureinpatientroomsinhealthcareoccupancies.Thus,thisguidecanbeusedtohelpassessthefirehazardofmaterials,assemblies,orsystemsintendedforuseinupholsteredfurniture,byprovidingastandardbasisforstudyingtheleveloffiresafetyassociatedwithcertaindesignchoices.Itcanalsoaidthoseinterestedindesigningfeaturesappropriatetohealthcareoccupancies.Finally,itmaybeusefultosafetypersonnelinhealthcareoccupancies.ThisguideisafocusedapplicationofGuideE1546,whichoffershelpinreferencetofirescenariosthatarespecifictoupholsteredfurnitureinhealthcareoccupancies,andincludesanextensivebibliography.ItdiffersfromGuideE1546inthatitoffersguidancethatisspecifictotheissueofupholsteredfurnitureinpatientroomsofhealthcarefacilities,ratherthangeneralguidance.includessomestatisticsonthemagnitudeofthepotentialproblemintheU.S.Afirehazardassessmentconductedinaccordancewiththisguideisstronglydependentonthelimitationsinthefactorsdescribedin.Inputdata(includingtheirprecisionoraccuracy).Appropriatetestprocedures.Firemodelsorcalculationproceduresthataresimultaneouslyrelevant,accurateandappropriate.Advancementofscientificknowledge.Thisguideaddressesspecificfirescenarioswhichbegininsideoroutsideofthepatientroom.However,theupholsteredfurnitureunderconsiderationisinsidethepatientroom.Thefirescenariosusedforthishazardassessmentguidearedescribedin.Theyinvolvetheupholsteredfurnitureitemwithinthepatientroomasthefirstorseconditemignited,intermsoftheroomoffireorigin.Additionally,considerationshouldbegiventotheeffectofthepatientroomupholsteredfurnitureitemonthetenabilityofoccupantsofroomsotherthantheroomoffireorigin,andonthatofpotentialrescuers.Thisguidedoesnotclaimtoaddressallfiresthatcanoccurinpatientroomsinhealthcareoccupancies.Inparticular,fireswithmoresevereinitiatingconditionsthanthoseassumedintheanalysismayposemoreseverefirehazardthanthatcalculatedusingthisguide(seealso).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Thisfirestandardcannotbeusedtoprovidequantitativemeasures.
