【摘要】:1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthecolor,trashcontent,micronaire,length,lengthuniformity,strengthandelongationofcottonfibersusingtheSpinlabSystemHVI900SAortheMotionControl,Inc.SystemsHVI3500andHVI4000thatareaseriesofinstrumentsconnectedtosinglededicatedprogrammedcomputers.1.2Thesetestmethodsareapplicabletoloosefiberstakenfromraworpartiallyprocessedcottonandsometypesofcottonwaste.1.3Thesetestmethodscontainthefollowingsections:1.4Thevaluesstatedinbothinch-poundandSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5ThistestmethodcoversthecomparisonofthecolorofrawcottonwiththeofficialstandardsoftheUnitedStatesDepartmentofAgricultureforColorGradeofcottonbymeansofacottoncolorimeteroftheNickerson-Huntertype.ItcanbeusedtomeasurethecolorofanytypeofrawcottonbutisparticularlyapplicabletoUplandandAmericanPimacotton,forwhichofficialgradeStandardshavebeenestablished.1.6Theinstrumentemploystheuseofaprogrammablemicroprocessorwithmemoryforcontrollinginternaloperationsandperformingrequiredcalibration,calculation,anddatapresentation.Note1Foranothermethoddescribingthemeasurementofthecolorofrawcotton,refertoTestMethodD2253.1.7Thistestmethoddescribesthemeasurementoftheamountoftrashasseenbyavideocamerafocusedonthesurfaceofatestspecimenofcottonpressedagainstaglasswindow.Note2Foranothermethoddescribingthemeasurementoftrashornon-lintcontentofcotton,refertoTestMethodD2812.1.8Theinstrumentmaybeincorporatedwithinthespaceoccupiedbyandadjacenttotheapparatustomeasurecolorofrawcotton(seeSections),thuspermittingsimultaneousmeasurementofcolorandtrashonthesametestspecimen.1.9Thistestmethoddescribesthedeterminationofthemicronaireofloosecottonbymeasuringtheresistanceofaplugofcottontoairflowunderprescribedconditions.Theinstrumentemploysaprogrammedmicroprocessorwithmemoryforcontrollinginternaloperationandperformingrequiredcalibration,adjustments,calculations,anddatapresentation.Foranothermethoddescribingthedeterminationofmicronaire,refertoTestMethodD1448.1.10Themeasurementoflengthandlengthuniformityismadebyoutputtingavoltagedirectlyproportionaltotheamountoffiberinthepreparedspecimenatagivendistancefromthebaseofthetestbeard.TheSpinlabsystemusesafibrograph-typephotoelectricalinstrument.TheMotionControlsystemusesalengthanalyzerpneumaticinstrument.Note3Foranothermethoddescribingthemeasurementofcottonfiberlength,refertoTestMethodD1447.1.11Thistestmethoddescribesthedeterminationofthebreakingtenacityandelongationatthebreakingforceofcottonfibersinatestspecimeninwhichfibershavebeenplacedrandomlyinaspecimencomborclampandbrokenusing(3.2-mm)1/8-in.clampspacing.Inthecottontextileindustry,thisphysicalpropertyisusuallycalled"strength".Note4Forothermethodscoveringthemeasurementofcottonfiberstrength,refertoTestMethodD1445.
