【摘要】:Solventextractionofsoilsandsedimentscanprovideinformationontheavailabilityofpetroleumhydrocarbonstoleaching,waterqualitychanges,orothersiteconditions.Rapidheating,incombinationwithtemperaturesinexcessoftheatmosphericboilingpointofacetone/hexane,reducessamplepreparationorextractiontimes.Reducedamountsofsolventsarerequiredandsolventlossduetoboilingandevaporationareeliminatedbyuseofclosedextractionvessels.1.1Thispracticecoversthesolventextractionoftotalpetroleumhydrocarbon(TPH)fromsoilsandsediments,usingclosedvesselmicrowaveheating,forsubsequentdeterminationbygravimetricorgaschromatographictechniques.1.2Thispracticeisrecommendedonlyforsolidsamplesthatcanpassthroughatenmeshscreen(approximately2-mmopenings).1.3Thesolventextractobtainedbythispracticemaybeanalyzedfortotalorspecificnonvolatileandsemivolatilepetroleumhydrocarbonsbutmayrequiresampleclean-upprocedurespriortospecificcompoundanalysis.1.4Thispracticeislimitedtosolventsthatarerecommendedforuseinmicrowavesolventextractionsystems.1.5Thevaluesstatedinpoundspersquareinch(psi)aretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection8.
